Misconduct by Lily Harlem

Misconduct, book #6 in my Hot Ice series will be released from Ellora's Cave on the 31st January 2014.

The Hot Ice books do not need to be read in order to be enjoyed, so if you want to jump in at Misconduct, that's fine. But if you want to find out more about the other bad boys of the Vipers hockey team and start at the beginning, details are on my website.

Manage the Vipers hockey team! Me? Well, that’s my role now. Shame a gorgeous, cocky-assed goaltender is testing my patience. Sweet cheeks—really, is that any way to refer to the boss? Dustin “Speed” Reed certainly seems to think so.

It’s okay though. I’ll escape to my billionaire father’s paradise retreat. Except Dustin decides to jump on for the ride. Then the tension really heats up, hotter than the scorching midday sun.

I want to slap him and kiss him. Push him away and rip off his clothes. The feeling is mutual—a potent cocktail of anger mixed with lust. I know we shouldn’t. It can’t end well, especially when I’m going give him the sack as soon as I push him out of it.

But what’s the fun in having rules if no one ever breaks them? I’ll take what I can, give him what he wants and worry about balancing the books tomorrow. Surely my heart will be fine.

Masturbation and Creativity

By K D Grace/Grace Marshall

As a novelist, who writes erotic romance, I’m proud to be a frequent masturbator, and I’m always a bit surprised that anyone could be ashamed of such a powerful creative force.

The ancient Egyptians believed masturbation was a creative act in its own right. In the Heliopolis creation myth, the god Amen rises from the primeval ocean, Nun, and masturbates the divine son and daughter into existence, and they populate the world. Even if I look at the Judeo/Christian myth in the first two chapters of Genesis, where God speaks the world into existence, I’m still looking at a solo act.

Eric Francis on Betty Dodson and Carlin Ross’s Sex Information Online site writes, ‘Masturbation is the most elemental form of sexuality, requiring only awareness and a body.

Awareness and a body. Masturbating the world into existence. It happens all the time. At the risk of offering too much information, my understanding of sex, my deepest understanding of my own sexuality, comes from awareness and my own body. That’s what I have to work with. My understanding of writing, my deepest understanding of the creative forces in me also comes from awareness and my own self.

I’m astounded that in a world where solitude and the meditative tradition is a part of almost every religious discipline, we shy away from the very concepts that could have well given birth to it, awareness and Body. There can be no awareness without a body. And how can we possibly understand the boundaries and the limits of either without the two rubbing up against each other. Our act of one-ness, our proto-sexuality, as Eric Francis calls it, I suggest is, by its boundary-exploring nature, also our proto-creativity.

Some quotes taken from my blog post: http://kdgrace.co.uk/blog/masturbation-and-creativity/

Blurb for An Executive Decision:

Sex in the contract – it’s the only way super-focused, over-worked CEO, Ellison Thorne, is ever going to get laid. That’s what his retiring business partner and secret match-maker, Beverly Neumann, thinks. She’s convinced no-strings, stress-free sex in certain employee contracts would raise productivity and minimize stress — perfect for a busy executive like Ellis. But she’s joking, right?

Enter her hand-picked replacement, Dee Henning. Young, hungry, gifted, Dee is the queen of no time for sex. When negotiations on a major project break down, and Dee and Ellis end up in each other’s arms, the Executive Sex Clause suddenly becomes more than a joke. In fact hot executive sex just might be the ultimate secret weapon for success. But secrets seldom remain secret, and Dee and Ellis soon learn there’s no such thing as no-strings where the heart is concerned.

Excerpt from An Executive Decision:

At last he pushed his chair back and looked up at her. ‘Marston refused the proposal.’

‘I’m sorry,’ she said again.

‘Not that it was a huge surprise, but I could have done nicely without him berating me for hiring someone incompetent and irresponsible to take Beverly’s place. That didn’t exactly make my day. What the hell happened?’

She felt the heat rising up her spine and onto her ears. ‘I overslept.’ She forced the words out into the chilled room.

‘You overslept?’

‘Yes.’ She nodded imperceptibly, feeling the scrutiny of his glare.

For a long moment he just stared at her. She forced herself to meet his gaze and held her tongue, afraid if she tried to say anything she’d burst into tears, and she despised women who cried.

‘That’s it, then? You overslept.’

She nodded again, swallowing hard.

‘Well that’s a relief.’ He leaned forward in his chair and rose almost as though he were going to leap over the desk and pounce. The tension in his body was palpable. ‘I was afraid you were lying on the freeway somewhere in a pool of blood. I’m so relieved that it was nothing so dire, and that you simply overslept.’ With each word, his voice grew louder until he wasn’t exactly yelling, but neither was there any way she could miss his message as each word drove her deeper into her chair until she felt as trapped as if she had been tied there.

‘I’m sorry,’ she forced a whisper through the roadblock in her throat, but the stinging behind her eyes warned that a swift exit would be necessary if she were to avoid the flood.

‘Sorry? You’re sorry? Tally had to pick up the slack. Do you have any idea how that looked? Just when I was starting to make progress with Marston, just when the man was beginning to listen to reason, you oversleep. You made Jamison’s deal seem all the sweeter, that’s what you did. Now, tell me what the hell’s going on.’

'Pardon?’

He moved from behind his desk and paced the carpet in front of her like a bull ready to charge. ‘You’re supposed to be working to shore up the situation with Scribal. I told you up front that’s your major concern at the moment, then not only do you oversleep and miss an important meeting, but I find out you’ve been working on something else behind my back.’ Before she could respond, he turned on her. ‘Is Trouvères what you’ve been staying up half the night and missing meetings for? When I hired you, I never thought you, of all people, would neglect your responsibilities.’

‘I’m not neglecting anything. If you would just --’

He interrupted her. ‘Don’t think just because I gave you this job, you suddenly know it all. I took a big risk hiring you.’ He stopped pacing and rooted himself in front of her, close enough that she had to strain her neck to look up at him. ‘You want to do something; you bring it to me first. You’re not ready to make that kind of decision on your own. You don’t have the experience it takes to…to…  You’re not Beverly.’

His words were a hard slap, felt more than heard above the roar in her ears. She wasn’t sure the ragged breathing her brain finally registered in the chasm of silence that followed his tirade was his or her own.

The phone rang into the charged atmosphere and Ellis jerked it from its cradle in a strangle hold. ‘This had better be good, Lynn. Wade? What the hell does he want? Can’t it wait?  We’re not finished yet. I can what?’ He heaved a sigh of resignation and slammed the receiver back down. ‘Wade wants to see you right now. He says I can get back to you on this, and believe me, I intend to.’ He nodded toward the door. ‘Well, go on, at least don’t keep him waiting. Pick up the notes on the meeting from Sandra.’

She stood on trembling legs and turned to go. As she reached for the door, he called to her. ‘Dee, I strongly suggest you make no more attempts to prove Marston right about you.’

 *****

Still breathing like a freight train, Ellis watched Dee disappear shutting the door behind her. He grabbed up the phone and called his secretary. ‘Lynn, hold all my calls. I don’t want to be disturbed. How long? Until I say otherwise, that’s how long.’ He slammed the receiver down, snapped his laptop shut and stormed down the hall to the lounge.

He shoved his way out of his jacket and tossed it across the wingback chair, then practically strangled himself in his efforts to loosen his tie. From the coffee table he grabbed up the remote and plunged the room into the wild raucous ride of the third movement of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata. Then he dropped onto the sofa struggling to breath, struggling to regain control, struggling to figure out what the hell had just happened. All through the meeting, when Dee didn’t show up, he was terrified that something horrible had happened, terrified that he would lose Dee the same way he had lost Beverly. And the relief he felt at seeing her. Jesus, the relief was like nothing he’s ever felt before.

If Lynn hadn’t called, if Wade hadn’t demanded Dee’s presence … If Ellis had had one more second with her, he would have yanked her up from the chair and fucked her senseless right there in the middle of the day with all of Pneuma Inc just outside his door, fucked her as though he might never get another chance, fucked her as though his life depended on it, and that’s exactly how it felt. He wiped cold sweat from his forehead and struggled to breathe. If he’d lost her, Jesus! He couldn’t even bear the thought.

He jerked open his fly and sucked a harsh breath as he released himself into his hand and began to tug on his cock like the world was coming to an end. Christ, he couldn’t go on like this. It felt like he was always either avoiding her or jerking off thinking about her. And fuck if he wasn’t thinking about her all the time; the shape of her, the feel of her, the sass of her. He’d never wanted anything so badly. And then … and then she fucks up so royally that all he wanted to do was punish her, to turn her over his knee for giving him such a scare, to … to … to fuck her until she couldn’t walk.

The image flashed through his head, the image of him bending her over his desk and shoving up her skirt, the image of him ripping aside her panties, the image of him making her sorry she’d overslept, the image of him making her sorry she’d made him feel all those things, things he didn’t want to feel, the image of him dropping his trousers and shoving his cock up into her very contrite, very wet slit and … That was it. Before he could reach for his handkerchief, before he could even think about making it to the bathroom, he convulsed his load out over the coffee table to the driving piano crescendo hammering into his ears and to visions of Dee Henning bent over his desk moaning and writhing beneath him.

Stately Pleasures by Lucy Felthouse

Alice Brown has just landed her dream job. Property manager at Davenport Manor, a British stately home. It’s only a nine-month contract to cover maternity leave, but it’s the boost up the career ladder she so desperately needs.
Unfortunately, things don’t get off to the best start, when Alice finds her boss, Jeremy Davenport, in a compromising position. Far from being embarrassed by what’s happened, Jeremy turns things around on Alice and makes her out to be the one in the wrong. So when he and his best friend and head of security, Ethan Hayes, then throw an ultimatum at her, she’s so stunned and confused that she goes along with their indecent proposal.
When the dust settles and Alice has time to think about things, though, she realises that perhaps it isn’t such a bad thing. There are worse things she could be doing to advance her career, after all.

*****

Excerpt:

Alice took a deep breath, in through her nose and out through her mouth. Repeated the process once more. Then, realising she could sit there all day doing it and not feel any calmer, she forced herself to step out of the car and close and lock the door.
She bent to peer into the wing mirror of the vehicle and checked her hair and make-up. Satisfied, she straightened, then turned on her heel and walked quickly across the driveway to the great house before her nerve failed her.
Davenport Manor was currently open for visitors, so she walked in through the front door and was met by a smiling elderly lady.
‘Can I help you?’ the woman asked kindly.
‘Yes, please.’ Alice twisted her hands together nervously. ‘I’m here to see Mr Davenport. I’m here for an interview for the property manager’s role.’
‘Yes, of course,’ the woman replied, ‘that’s today, isn’t it? Follow me; I’ll take you to Mr Davenport’s office. But just hang on one second.’
She ducked through the doorway into the next room and spoke with her colleague. Alice guessed she was letting her co-worker know she’d be gone for a few minutes. A few seconds later, she was back. ‘OK, follow me, Miss …’
‘Brown,’ Alice said, then fell in behind the other woman as she led her to Mr Davenport’s office, and the interview that could change her life for ever. It was hardly surprising that she was shaking like a leaf.
Alice quickly felt lost as their journey took several twists and turns along dim corridors – their blinds drawn to protect paintings, tapestries, and furniture from the sunlight – and up a flight of stairs. She had a few seconds to worry about finding her way if she was lucky enough to get the job, then, suddenly, her guide stopped outside a door and turned around.
‘Here you go, Miss Brown. Mr Davenport’s office. Good luck with your interview.’
Alice smiled and thanked the elderly woman, then smoothed down her skirt, which also conveniently helped wipe the nervous sweat off her hands. She stood up straight, gave herself a mental pep talk about being more than qualified for the role, and knocked on the door.
‘Enter.’
Alice knew that voice could only belong to Jeremy Davenport. The posh accent, and the fact he’d said “enter” instead of “come in”, screamed money and an upper-class upbringing. Alice was suddenly nervous of her broad Midlands accent and lowly background, despite the fact she’d worked her backside off to get into a decent university in order to gain a Bachelor of Arts degree and then a Master’s degree. No matter what she sounded like, or what her past was, she had all the skills necessary to do the job she was about to be interviewed for.
Suddenly, she realised that she’d left rather a long pause before opening the door, and she turned the handle before the occupants of the room thought they were about to interview some kind of simpleton who couldn’t follow a simple instruction.
Fixing a polite – but hopefully not inane – smile onto her face, Alice stepped into Jeremy Davenport’s office. Her first thought – which certainly did nothing to help her nerves – was good God, he’s hot.
Jeremy sat behind a desk, with a heavily pregnant woman sitting beside it. Alice barely noticed the woman. All she saw was him. A man with cropped dark brown hair, hazel/green eyes, a jawline you could cut bread with, and lips that looked capable of doing incredibly wicked, sexual things to a woman. Or a man. Alice had no idea what his sexuality was, but she found herself hoping he liked women.
She chastised herself. Even if he did like women, he wouldn’t go for someone like her. A Plain Jane, with mousy brown shoulder-length hair, blue eyes, average height and above average weight. Alice had always known she’d never be a supermodel, so she’d worked extra hard academically, and here she was. About to be interviewed for her dream job.

Get Started in Writing Erotic Fiction by Judith Watts and Mirren Baxter

Post by Lily Harlem

It is with great pleasure that we welcome Judith Watts and Mirren Baxter to Outrageous today. Get Started in Writing Erotic Fiction is a brilliant new book that tells it how it is and I'm thrilled to say that I contributed a few 'pearls of wisdom' to the text as I had the great fortune to bump into Judith and Mirren at Eroticon in 2013, just as they were setting out on their adventure of writing this 'how to' book. So without further ado, let me hand you over to these wonderfully helpful ladies...

Hi everyone, and thank you, Lily, for inviting us to Outrageous!

At the cinema recently, we were reminded that depictions of sex can make people very uncomfortable.  Admittedly, Blue is the Warmest Colour has some of the longest and most explicit sex scenes that we’ve ever seen in mainstream cinema.  But at the very first hint of raunch, the woman sitting in front of us snatched her smartphone from her bag, fired it up and proceeded to stab away at her emails.  It was completely distracting.  The light from her screen took our attention away from the big screen, but her font size was too small for us to find out what on earth could be more compelling than the unfolding story, damn it.  When she did it again at the start of every sex scene, we realised that she wasn’t dealing with an emergency; she was completely mortified and had to invent a reason to look away.   Despite all the changes in society, sex can still be an awkward subject.

With this potential for awkwardness in mind, Get Started in Writing Erotic Fiction is aimed at people who are interested in writing erotic fiction but who need some help.  Readers might be erotic fiction fans who have never written before, trying to find out how to go about it, or they might be experienced non-erotic writers who understand only too well how difficult it can be to write well about such a complex and emotive subject.

When we meet brand new writers, they often mention three areas of concern, regardless of the genre that they’re working in:

I have an idea for a story, but I don’t know if it’s any good.

I don’t know how to start.

I’ve written something, but it’s terrible.

Our book addresses these issues from the erotic fiction writer’s perspective.  For example, one of our first writing exercises tackles the first two concerns with a prompt:

The First Time

First times carry significant weight. Whether it’s the first meeting, the first kiss or your first publication, these occasions often involve strong and varied emotions, ranging from nervous trepidation to delirious excitement. They are fun to write about and satisfying to read.

• Write about the first time. Which first is up to you, but make
it sexual, important and positive.

• Start with ‘It all happened when …’.

• Just write. Include everything you want to say about that
memorable first. Don’t worry about spelling or grammar.
Enjoy remembering. Aim for 500 words.

We’ve included topics specific to erotic fiction (such as issues of consent and a nod to the the ‘erotica versus porn’ debate), information about the erotic fiction market, and chapters about traditional and self-publishing.  The book was designed to give step-by-step support; the workshop exercises can take new erotic fiction writers from their first inspiration to getting their work ‘out there.’

One of the unexpected pleasures in writing Get Started in Writing Erotic Fiction was finding out how welcoming and supportive the erotic fiction community can be.  We were lucky to meet some fabulous established authors who were happy to contribute advice for new writers.  As well as the wonderful Lily Harlem, we have advice from Lucy Felthouse, Victoria Blisse, Remittance Girl (Madeleine Morris), MK Elliot and Tabitha Rayne.  Without exception, everyone that we’ve met and spoken to in relation to this project has been approachable and friendly - this is encouraging news for any new writer.

Ultimately, we want to support new erotic fiction writers because we’re fans; we’d like to see more captivating, sexy stories that are well written and professionally presented reaching a larger audience, please.  We hope that Get Started in Writing Erotic Fiction will help new writers to achieve exactly that.

Early Download - Cassie's Choice, League of Love book 7.

Wishing Everyone a Happy and Prosperous New Year!

It’s been six months since I’ve had a new release so I’m very excited to announce that Cassie’s Choice, book 7 in my League of Love series is now available for early download at Totally Bound Publishing.

I’m not sure why it took me so long to get this story down, Riley and Cassie’s romance started way back in book 4 of my series, Pippa’s Fantasy. The only reason I could come up with was that I had known Riley from when he was just a boy. I met him in the very first book I ever penned. So I guess it’s a bit like thinking of your own children in a sexual relationship – you simply just don’t go there ;)

Although in saying that I do recall asking my eldest son if he could give me any advice on a scene I was writing that involved a little bit of rope play. Yes, that was an awkward conversation and apparently son is not really into that sort of thing so was of very little help.  Kids today, no imagination! J

Here is an excerpt from Cassie’s Choice, I hope you enjoy it.

Cassie started to think her spur of the moment idea was turning out to be a massive mistake. She could hardly believe she was standing in Riley’s kitchen, staring at his back. His broad shoulders were within the reach of her fingers. She only needed to take one step forward and she would have been able to wrap her arms around his waist, lean her body into his muscular back. The T-shirt he wore stretched deliciously, enticingly over that wide expanse, reminding her of times past, when snuggling into the warmth of Riley’s body was as natural as breathing.

But that was then and after the offhanded comment he’d made and her incredibly stupid response, Cassie doubted she would ever get the chance to lay her hands on him again. Why she’d admitted to being lonely was beyond her. Desperate Cassie needed to be reeled back in and locked away if they were ever going to have a chance at being friends. And that was why she had made the decision to come here in the first place. She had been feeling so guilty that Pippa and Rook had been avoiding Riley. It was not fair to him for her mistakes to come between them. Cassie had hoped that if she could get Riley to talk to her maybe they could move on and everything would settle back down.

Well, that was the excuse she had made up for herself—but now standing so close to the man who had haunted her dreams for the past few years, Cassie was having a hard time remembering those reasons. She wanted to hold him. More to the point, she wanted to feel his arms around her body. And more than that, she wanted to feel his cock buried deep in her aroused and eager pussy. The man had done nothing but offer to make her a cup of tea and she was ready to fuck him senseless—yes, Desperate Cassie needed to be put back in her cage, and quickly.

“Fuck it!”

Cassie was still trying to figure out what Riley had meant when he spun around to face her. “I’m sorry for what I’m about to do…but I just can’t seem to stop myself.”

When Riley placed his hands on either side of her head and dragged her face towards his, Cassie was in shock, but as their lips met, her body rejoiced. Ignoring the sounds of warning bells and the thoughts—This is a very bad idea, Cassie—that were running through her mind, she fell into the kiss. The warmth from his touch, the slight pain from the way his tight grip on her hair added to the fire that began to smoulder from within her. She was kissing Riley Walters.

As Riley plundered her mouth with his tongue, he realigned his body to crowd hers. The hardness of his chest abraded her beaded nipples and she rubbed against him like a cat in heat. She wound her arms around his waist, shoving her hands under his shirt. Skin. She felt his skin beneath her hands and it was everything she remembered. The heat emanating from his body, and the sense of strength he exhibited in his toned, well-defined physique, so good. Cassie ran her fingers up his spine, every bump of his vertebrae familiar, perfect. It was such an assault on her senses that her ears were ringing—the high-pitched whistling in unison with her soaring emotions.

Then the heat was gone. Riley stepped away. Let go of her.

“The kettle… I have to turn it off,” he said as he turned his back on her again. Her head was spinning. What is going on? Finally it sank in.

The whistling? Kettle—it was the water boiling… Cassie sighed, making a long, loud noise. Talk about bad timing. How she wished she could stop her blood from boiling as easily as flicking a switch on a kettle. What was worrying her even more was that Riley did not appear in any hurry to resume where they had left off. She didn’t know what to do. What to say.

“Riley…”

“Cassie, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have done that.”

Riley’s words drove through her like a knife. The perfect switch to cool her raging libido. She turned from inferno to ice in one short sentence.

He was sorry for kissing her. Rage replaced sexual hunger. He was not getting away with it again.

Blurb

All my life I’ve been the quiet bookworm, the office mouse. It hasn’t bothered me. Immersing myself in erotic novels has kept me wriggling on the edge of my seat at work and firmly entrenched in my own fantasy world at night.

Though one thing is bothering me—my damn virginity. If only I could find a sexy bedroom expert to introduce me to the delights of having a lover. Someone handsome and charming, who can rival the hunky alpha males in my books. I have a very vivid, very well-fed imagination—he’ll have to keep up.

Then, one bitterly cold night, thanks to a devious, conniving, so-called friend, the perfect opportunity to rid myself of this pesky virginity problem comes along. Before I know it, the heroes in my novels have come alive in the person of Shane Galloway, who’s pleasuring me with every trick in the book and wheedling into my heart in the hottest ways possible.

In this excerpt Shane and Ashley have just made their way back from the pub to their hotel. Trudging through the snow hasn't chilled their desires or frozen their lust for each other, they're hotter than ever and even thrown a sprinkle of kink into the mix...

The trudge back was swifter than the journey to the pub. We were all conscious of getting caught in the dark, but fortunately it wasn’t long before we spotted the welcoming golden lights of The Fenchurch in the distance.
We bid Rachel and Jeremy goodbye in the lobby—they had plans to go and listen to a pianist in the Champagne Lounge—and took the elevator to our suite.
As soon as the large brass doors of the elevator slid shut, Shane dragged me up against his body. “I got harder with every step we took on the way back,” he whispered onto my lips. “The thought of another night with you is driving me insane. I can’t believe I got so lucky.”
Wrapping my arms around his waist, I pulled him closer. He was right, he was hard. Very hard.
“You want to play a game?” I asked. All the way back a thought had been nagging away at me. Shane’s enjoyment of Stolen and Seduced had my mind racing with possibilities. There was something I needed to ask him while I had the courage of wine and felt so sublimely close to him.
“Only if it involves playing with you,” he said, grinning. “It does.”
He cocked his head. “Go on.”
I glanced at the lift numbers and the small upward arrow flashing. Could I really suggest it?
“Honey, tell me.”
I swallowed and looked up into his face. “You’ve got me curious,” he said.
I dragged in a deep breath. I wasn’t sure how he would take my suggestion but I hoped with all my heart it would appeal to him. “You know that book you read last night on my laptop?”
“Yep.”
“Well, it’s one of my favorites and I wondered...” I paused. Would he think I was weirdly kinky or worse, completely freaky?
His voice lowered and his eyelids dropped slightly. “And you wondered if I fancied a little role-play?” His tone held a note of disbelief but also interest, and he’d certainly hit the nail on the head as to what I was suggesting.
My gaze snapped to his. “Yes.”
“Oh, Ashley, I don’t know if I’m ever going to be the same again after meeting you.” He pulled me a little tighter. “You’re a dream come true.”
“Is that a yes?”
“Hell, yeah, the thought of you tied up like Eliza and your pleasure completely under my control is a massive turn-on. But are you sure? You only lost your virginity last night. I’d hate to scare you or do something you weren’t comfortable with.”
“Of course I’m sure or I wouldn’t have suggested it. And as for having just lost my virginity, hell, I’m twenty-three, I figure I have a few years of sex to make up for.”
The doors slid open and we stepped out into the fortunately deserted hallway. I would have died if anyone from Safe as Houses had heard that last sentence.
“Well, in that case, be prepared to be ‘stolen and seduced’, little lady,” he whispered hotly into my ear. “But anything you really don’t like, or if you want me to stop then just say,” he paused, “Paddington Bear.”
“Paddington Bear?”
“Yes, then I’ll know that you mean it and you’re not just getting into the role of Eliza and begging to be freed even when you don’t want to be.”
Paddington Bear. Okay.
I slid the keycard into our door and shoved it open. The room had been cleaned and smelled of polish. There was one dim lamp on in the living area.
“Go into the bathroom,” Shane said, slipping out of his coat and throwing it over the back of the sofa. “And when you come out Hest will be waiting.” He sat down and tugged off his wellington boots.
Heart fluttering, I quickly slipped out of my boots, nipped through the bedroom and into the en suite. With the door shut I leaned back against the wood. The bathrobes folded around my shoulders in a soft embrace. I felt giddy with anticipation, high with excitement. Oh my god! What had I asked for? And far from being shocked by my request, Shane had been up for it immediately. This was something I’d always dreamed of, being the heroine in one of my books—and now it was about to be realized.
Maybe I should have chosen a less dangerous scene. The one from The Millionaire’s Bride would have been less wild and not at all kinky. But Shane hadn’t read that one, he’d read, and enjoyed, Stolen and Seduced. Clearly fate had brought that scenario upon us and now there was nothing to do but enjoy.
Hastily, I brushed my teeth, staring all the time at my reflection. Once again there was something different about me, not just my rosy cheeks and windblown hair, but a hunger in my eyes, a longing, and a need that demanded to be satisfied buzzed between my legs and made my breasts heavy. Sex and getting naked with Shane was all I could think of.
I finished freshening up and slowly opened the door. The bedroom was in complete darkness. It was so black that when I clicked the bathroom light off I couldn’t even see my hand in front of my face.
Taking a tentative step onto the carpet, my heart thudded. I struggled to catch my breath. The thrill of handing over this fantasy to Shane was off-the-Richter-scale sexy.
When will he grab me?
Will he be gentle and sweet or will he launch into the rough-and-tough role of Hest?
Walking farther into the room, slowly and hesitantly, I waited either to be captured or to bump my shins into furniture. I reached for something to feel my way around and blinked in the velvety blackness.
Suddenly a big palm clamped over my mouth and my head was pulled back into the solid muscle of a shoulder.
I yelped in shock but the sound was muffled.
“Keep quiet, Miss Winters, if you value your life!”
Something with an unnervingly metallic coolness pressed against my jugular, it slipped downward then around my neck, leaving a sharp trail of sensation.
My whole body froze, except for my heart rate, which rocketed. Surely Shane wouldn’t use a knife for our game? It was what Hest had used but...
He must have sensed my real fear, for the sharpness lifted and I heard a double click. The “weapon” was a ball-point pen.
Phew!
The pen was back at my neck and his hot mouth by my ear. When he spoke, his voice was low and dangerous. It was easy to imagine in the darkness that it was Hest with a razor-sharp knife holding me tight.
“You’ve teased me for too long, Eliza. Made me want you until I was crazy with it and then you tossed me away. Do you really think you can do that with a man like me? Do you? Really?”
He moved his hand from my mouth and I slipped happily into role. “Hest, get off me. What the hell do you think you’re doing?” I started to spin away but he clasped me to his body. His erection prodded at the small of my back and his arm became a tight band of granite around me. The pen flattened widthways over the lump in my throat.
“Oh, no, you don’t, I have plans for you. Plans to make you mine, forever.”
My excitement threatened to bubble over and my knees turned jelly-like. He even sounded like Hest and I swear his words were exactly the same as the book. Did he have a photographic memory or something?
“You can’t do this, my father will be out searching for me, no expense will be spared. Hotel security will see us.”
He laughed and lifted me as though I was no weight at all. As my feet left the floor, he began to stride forward, all the time speaking huskily into my ear. “No one will find you, Eliza, I’ve made sure we won’t be seen, and besides, who would expect you to be held in the very place you were taken from? What kind of gangster would stay at The Plaza?”
I wriggled within his grip the way Eliza did in the story. Writhing and flailing. Fighting to be free. But it was no good, his hold was strong and firm and the more I tried to escape the tighter he held me. The pleasure of him increasing his grip urged me on with my squirming.
Suddenly, unexpectedly, he dropped me backward, fast. Luckily, I landed on the bed. Air whooshed from my lungs and immediately I scrabbled to the opposite side, enjoying the chase but knowing I wouldn’t get away. And, of course, not wanting to get away .
“Oh, no, you don’t.” His full weight was over me, his hands roaming fast and wild, pulling and dragging at my clothes. “You can’t escape, and soon you won’t want to. Soon you’ll come to realize only I can give you what you need, Eliza, and you will admit it’s me that you love, only me, for all of time.”

Praise for Cold Nights, Hot Bodies

"This is a great, quick, easy, sexy, lovable book by Lily Harlem! I highly recommend this to anyone. Loved it!"

"If you are looking for a cute read with lots of great sex and a HEA than this is the book for you!"

"I love this author. Her characters are always so real. This was truly a great story. It was a story about Ashley's emerging sexuality and Individualism as well as Shane getting over the break up of his marriage. Both have what the other desperately needs. The exchange of sexual tension and trust is wonderfully written. Bravo again to Lily Harlem!"

"Hot, sweet, romantic, steamy are just a few of the words I would use to describe this story."

Holiday Bargains!

Post by Lily Harlem

Yes, we all like a bargain  and if it's free then that's even better!

That's why I have a few special offers going on over the holidays... so if you've had your Kindle for years and completely love it, or you've just found one in your Christmas stocking, here are my gifts to you...

I write with Natalie Dae and publish under the name Harlem Dae - if three in a bed is your thing grab yourself a FREE copy of Good Cop, Bad Cop today!

Fame and fortune is a blessing that, for me, has changed its taste from sumptuously sweet to murderously bitter. Leaving me no choice but to look over my shoulder at every turn and question the scruples of even my most faithful friends.

I would give up all the glowing adoration from my fans in a heartbeat in exchange for not running for my life. But fate doesn’t deal cards that way, and instead I find myself far out at sea and being bounced between two hot cops—one so chilly just his glance gives me frostbite, and the other showing a kindness that barely covers his own demons.

So with nowhere else to turn, quite literally, I have to trust two men I hardly know with my life and cope without the luxuries my status usually affords me. But it’s not long before I discover when the going gets tough, the tough get going. Turns out these cops are not only the wrong guys to mess with, they also have partnership skills above and beyond the requirements of their day job. And for once, while just being me without the frills, I get to discover that they are as sinfully bad as they are dreamily good in every department, and it seems, I am the one they want cuffed and controlled at the same time as they are protecting and serving.

The Novice is the first novel in the Sexy as Hell Trilogy and is on a permanent low price of $1.24/77p to get you started on Victor and Zara's wild ride through the world of BDSM.
