Icy Control - out now!

I’ve always wanted to be able to draw. I’m just not artistic like that though, sadly. Words are my medium. But that didn’t stop me trying for years throughout school. I remember my Year 7 Art teacher prudently labelling my attempts as “enthusiastic” in one report card. Then my Year 8 Art teacher just as kindly – but a bit more stronger worded – said something along to the effect of “always cheerful and courageous in her trying but shows no innate talent”.

So I took great delight in writing Sally, my heroine in IcyControl .  While writing her, I was dreaming of all the paintings I could have created, had I any skerrick of talent. Some of Sally’s whimsy definitely is wishful thinking on my behalf. I’d love to create pictures like hers.

Rob loves Sally just how she is. Obsessive, forgetful, whimsical and cheerful. Rob had Sally have been friends for many years, but there’s always been something keeping them apart. Until now. Rob needs Sally’s help on a case and she’s really excited to be involved. There’s plenty of art, hidden codes and secrets unveiled in Icy Control. I’ve loved writing it and hope you all enjoy the new book in my Agency series.

Icy Control is out for Pre-release on May 30th and as always I enjoy hearing from readers. J

Good Guys Who Are Bad.....

Is it just me, or is there nothing sexier than a good guy who can act bad?

I mean really, it can’t just be me who has a shelf at home full of books who have Bad Boys returning home after time away. While they regularly still have their leather jackets and motorcycle, they’re now decent men who the heroine can turn to for help.  For me, it’s often hero’s who have spent time in the army or other military area, something that gives them discipline and opens their eyes to the greater world out there. But still, it’s a theme I find myself drawn to read in various forms over and over.

dd984597409f39febbec11c8de87131b.jpg

Also nowadays, the old-school heroine who needs rescuing (while I find she still sometimes has her place in my fiction reading) for the most part is outdated. I want a heroine who might need help, but she can certainly hold up her own end and not just stand there helplessly watching. Back in Seductive Tracks I introduced Melissa Geyton with complete innocence. My heroine in Seductive Tracks needed an outside source, a connection, and Melissa popped into my head and I used her readily. Little did I know how complicated a character she was. I was also surprised at just how loudly she started talking to me and how very stubborn and determined she was.

Needless to say, here I am, two books later writing about her.

Daniel is one of those strong, silent types. Don’t be fooled – we all know a man like him. Cliched as it is, he truly is one of those men who mightn’t say a lot, but when he opens that mouth and something comes out *everyone* stops to listen. Ignoring him is at your own peril. As Assassins, neither Melissa nor Daniel are sweet, innocent characters, both have their fair share of problems, history and baggage. But what I really love about them is each have managed to make their own rules, to find their own path in the world they find themselves in, and while it might appear each of them conforms, they do so on their own terms.

Nothing is sexier to me than a Bad Boy who can come good, be strong and edgy, but still find love in his heart. Daniel does this to a tee, and Melissa is no wimp, waiting idly by for him to come rescue her. I found these two characters to be wonderfully matched and hope you all do too!

Unearthed Treasure - Released!

Oh I can't tell you how wonderful it is seeing Unearthed Treasure released over at Total E-Bound!

It must have been three or four Agency books ago where the character of Chelsea first strutted her way into my brain. A brunette vixen, sensual, sultry and utterly ready to play I knew the moment I "met" her she'd be awesome. A real lady to watch out for. David was hiding a little more in the shadows - silently watching over her, following her every move in a shady way I didn't at first even know whether he was a good guy or a bad one. (Or both - as some of the most delicious heroes can be....)

My agonising problem as a writer though soon became clear to me.

Neither Chelsea nor David really "fit" anywhere in the current plotlines I was happily ensconced in. Oh the DRAMA! Here were these two awesome characters - people I'd already fallen in love with - and I could not fit them into anything I had going. They weren't especially stubborn or difficult characters, but they certainly knew their own mind and persona's. So when they finally came out properly onto my stage in Intimate Knowledge I was overjoyed. That book lead fully into their own wonderful story and here we are today!

This book has a very special place inside my heart, and I really hope you all come to enjoy it as much as I have. Please do feel free to email me at: elapthorne999@hotmail.com or check out all my other releases on my website - http://elapthorne.mmebj.com/index.html

Spanking teaser from Wicked Teacher

So I felt like being a little naughty today - and decided to tease you all with the start of a spanking scene in my recent short story - Wicked Teacher. Eva and Aiden have a very hot, extremely wicked time together - and the scene where Aiden spanks the naughty Eva is one of my favourites.

Here's a quick exerpt:

* * * * *

A part of him wished he had been born in a different era. A few slim, red cane marks over the backs of these pretty legs would look delightful. Or maybe he would have used a hard wooden flogger, or smaller paddle.

Aiden grew hard just at the thought of the way Eva would moan and buck under the corporal—but highly sensual—punishment. She would wriggle and try to get away from him, her body twisting and heaving in a painful mockery of a far more enticing and sexual act.

Aiden felt his cock twitch again, both at the thoughts he entertained as well as the warm, sinuous feel of the girl spread out over his lap. Lifting his fingers, he traced a delicate pattern over her skin. He stroked the pads of his digits over her softness, but stopped just shy of her panties.

“You’re wet, my little slut,” Aiden crooned. He was delighted by the discovery of her copious cream. The aroma of her feminine musk was delicious, but it was the slick juices that coated Eva’s upper thighs that really turned him on.

The searing heat of her cunt beckoned to him, radiating so he could feel it on his fingers from the tops of her thighs. Aiden drew in a deep breath to resist the overwhelming impulse to spread her legs wide open and bury his face between her lower lips. His mouth watered. He ached to lap his tongue over the curve of her pussy and taste her cream.

Eva moaned, but did not articulate a response to his words. She wriggled beguilingly on his lap, appearing torn between seeking more pleasure and trying to escape the further pain which she must know would be coming. Aiden drew out the moment and avidly watched her body writhe. Eva finally turned her head so she could look up at him with those large eyes.

Her curls fell forward to cover her gaze. She raised a hand to pull the liberated strands of hair behind one ear before turning her head in his direction. Aiden became lost in her chocolate-brown gaze. Eva pleaded silently with him, but he couldn’t decide if she was aching to be fucked, or whether she was begging for him not to spank her too ferociously. Either way it really didn’t matter—he was going to do both.

“You’re lucky I don’t keep a flogger here, my beautiful slut,” he rumbled. “I think red marks on this beautiful, perfect skin of yours would enhance the seductiveness of your ass. For this afternoon, at least, it is not to be.”

Eva groaned and appeared on the verge of saying something, but Aiden didn’t give her the chance. With a quick flick of his wrist he flipped her skirt over her butt to gather around her waist. As expected he found her ass primly covered by a pair of white cotton panties.

Another quick motion, with both hands this time, and he’d hooked his fingers into the waistband of her underwear. Aiden dragged Eva’s panties down over her cheeks and left them bunched around her thighs. He watched as she squirmed, her luscious, naked ass undulating in the cool air.

“Oh!” she cried out.

Aiden smirked. With her head still turned towards him, he knew Eva couldn’t help but notice his joy at her sexy writhing.

With a sharp movement he brought his open palm down onto her round cheeks, and a loud slap filled the air. As he lifted his hand he noticed with deep satisfaction the red mark his palm had left on her pale skin. Pleasure welled within him.

Urband Seductions #5 - Seductive Tracks

I love the concept of how there’s almost always more to anyone (or any situation) than initially meets the eye. We all know the “common” labels thrown around all the time: mother, son, lover, friend, co-worker. But even the more exotic labels hardly scratch the surface of any given person or tale: erotic author, belly dancer, vibrator collector, dirty story aficionado.

I’m not just talking about those deep, dark, dirty secrets – but even ordinary things. When people ask you what you do for a living there’s a big difference between saying “I’m an accountant” and saying “I travel to clients (frequently interstate) to help train their book-keepers on the new tax laws, showing them the loopholes and helping them impress their bosses with all the savings they can give to the company.” Or how about the difference between: “I’m a nurse” and “I’ve worked in most of the hospital sections, and let me tell you what I encountered the other day in Accident and Emergency…”  Btw - go check out the lovely Lily Harlem’s Naughty Night Nurse if you want the full dish on the rest of that particular story ;)
My point being, there’s nothing as a person and a writer that I love more than knowing the full story behind those seemingly normal, bland and uninteresting façades we all seem to portray.

In my new release, Seductive Tracks, Matthias falls headlong into a mystery just like that. Kelli Robbins appears the quintessential boring witch. She works in the Archives – musty old tomes and file after file of ancient paperwork. When he scratches the surface, however, there’s a wealth of knowledge, sexy shenanigans and all kinds of enticing twists in store for them both. Security breaches, thieves, uncovering drug rings and of course – plenty of sizzling hot sex!
Seductive Tracks is the fifth book in my Urban Seduction series over at Ellora’s Cave. While it’s not necessary to read them in order – the Underground, Magical world of Chicago gets explored in more depth and many of the secondary characters have plenty of action of their own. In order they are: Retrieving Love, Retrieving Desire, Enforcer Seduced, Enforcer Ensnared.

Intimate Knowledge - Pre-Release!!

So I’m sure I can’t be the only person who every now and then plans a lovely, restful weekend. Usually on these occasions I’m overwhelmed with visions of relaxing in a bubble bath, or sleeping in until I wake naturally (and not to the dreaded tone of my alarm clock), or even just having the luxury of deciding whether to read outside in the sun, spread out on the couch or curled up in bed.

Frequently, however, it doesn’t come to pass. Either work intrudes, or friends call to catch up, or perhaps I’m reminded a day or two before the weekend of previous commitments. Sometimes I even start out on my desired break and get interrupted mid-relaxing.
A vacation out in the Forest of Dean has been on my to do list for a number of years.

With picturesque scenes like this, who can blame me, right? Peace, tranquillity, a real get-back-to-nature place where nothing could possibly go wrong or stress me out. Sadly for my heroine Jennifer Mabbot, her week camping was interrupted. Worse is, when she comes home the mystery she’d stumbled upon out in the boondocks followed, trailing mayhem and danger behind her.

Luckily, one of her oldest friends, Saul Haslen, works with the Agency and is more than willing to put himself squarely between her and danger. He’s even willing to finally risk his heart for her…and that’s only the start of their adventures together.
Intimate Knowledge is available right now for pre-release from TEB! I love hearing back from readers and always welcome emails at: elapthorne999@hotmail.com

Intimate Knowledge is the 5th book of my Agency series, and you can find the others following the links. In order: Flirting With Danger, Courting Passion, Passionate Immunity, Passionate Vengeance.

Enjoy, folks!

Outback Adventures

So for something completely different, I thought I’d share some pictures of the non-writing side of my lifeJ I live in Australia, and in my “real life” job once or twice a year I get to travel out of the city and into some of the more remote – and beautiful – places of my country. While I love travelling overseas and seeing different countries and cultures, there’s something out the Australian Outback that I just can never let go of, it’s ingrained deeply into my heart and soul and I can't imagine living permanently in any other place.
I’ve seen sunrises to die for:

and been to beaches that could grace any magazine cover and make you just crave to feel the sun on your face and sand between your toes:

Most recently I’ve been to more traditional Outback Australia both the scrub near the Blue Mountains:

and also into our gorgeous Red Centre:

While I know as a country we’re kinda in the middle of nowhere, difficult and expensive to get to – I hope some of these pictures can whet your appetite and give you a tantalising glimpse of just what a stunning variety of landscapes we have, and how overpowering the beauty of my land can be.

And hey - feel free to check out my Agency series over at Total E-Bound or my Urban Seductions series over at Ellora's Cave

Vengeance on my Mind

More and more nowadays we see articles in the newspapers and read fictional books about how science is growing and changing, technology advancing faster than ever before. I’m always intrigued by this – partly from curiosity but also partly to try and keep abreast of what’s happening. Genetically modified foods, engineered (and in vitro selected) babies, and most commonly of all – the changing of people genetically once grown, usually through viruses. Tons of books are out there about the outcomes of scientists who try to make humans faster/stronger/more long lived/immune resistant and so forth.

In that sense Passionate Vengeance isn't too dissimilar - it's plot revolves around a man determined to (in his own twisted way) make humans stronger, better. What I wanted to express in this book though, was how a woman could grow from exposure to such a thing. Abigail has been violated against her will, she’d burned her way through hell and managed to find herself carried out by her hero. She’s truly hit rock bottom – and is clawing her way back, inch by inch. I was deeply intrigued by how she’d react to this, how and where she’d find her strength, and once she gets a taste for vengeance – how far will it carry her?

Unlike many heroines today Abby is not a kick ass fighting machine. She doesn’t wield blades, shoot the bad guys and take no prisoners. Before all this happened she was a normal, average young lady. Tempting as it was to teach her to fight and shoot and kick butt – it wasn’t her and wasn’t realistic to her character. She finds her strength in other areas, in cool logic, in helping the fight to bring down the enemy and in the simple act of not giving in. She doesn’t go back home and crawl into bed, closing her eyes and pretending none of this occurs – although she’s sorely tempted to. I wanted to show how by simply being an active part of the fight, in doing the right thing, there’s a strength and power in that all its own.

Passionate Immunity is the book preceding this. Although it’s not critical to read it – there are characters and circumstances introduced in it that lead into Passionate Vengeance. I hope you all thoroughly enjoy these two tales – and would love to hear any thoughts/comments you have. Feel free to email me, or visit my website for more books I’ve written.

Lusty London Adventures

When I decided to write a new series, I really wanted to set it in London. The Agency grew from that – part traditional stuffy Gentleman’s club, part modern gathering point for adventurous, slightly mis-fitting patriots. Maybe it’s the Aussie in me – but there’s something just so fantastic about the UK. Both modern and traditional, fast paced and relaxed out in the country it’s the perfect blend of both worlds. As a writer you can have it all. Car chases and everything on the edge of your fingertips in the city, or as much space, lush green land and secret hiding places out in the country, and all relatively speaking close to each other. One must remember, of course, that people often will drive down here for 1 or 2 hours each way just to commute to work. We measure “distance” on a bit of a larger scale, I’ve discovered.

I’ve been really lucky over at TEB. The Agency has found a very loving home, and I’ve got a few releases coming out over the next few months. Passionate Immunity and its following title – Passionate Vengeance can both be currently purchased through the TEB website.  I hope you all enjoy my character's lusty adventures in and around London as much as I've enjoyed writing them!

Guest Post - Elizabeth Lapthorne

The start of any new year often gives us time to reflect on things we usually can’t find time for with our hectic schedules. Since I have a wide variety of interests and a naturally curious mind, this can often lead me into trouble, I find. One of the less twisted things I pondered over these holidays past was how much variety and choice we have nowadays, particularly when it comes to our fiction. A few decades ago there were a small number of broad genres: romance, mystery, horror and biographies to name the first few that come to mind.

Now it’s not like the publishing industry has reinvented the wheel, but something I did think over was how ePublishing has really opened up these categories – the regular publishers following along sometimes dragging their feet (like with erotica) but sometimes with more enthusiasm (say, the paranormal genre). Ten years ago all the *experts* pooh-poohed the eReader and most snubbed the ePublishers and figured it would prove to be a five minute wonder. What I don’t think they took into account was the sheer scope and variety these new markets could open us up to.

A few decades ago, Paranormal fiction was to be rare. In general, there were strictly vampire stories or sometimes werewolf  and always firmly in the horror section. My mother (who has always been a voracious reader) doesn’t recall more than a few books from her teens that could be classified nowadays as paranormal. Now, the bookstores have a shelf or two dedicated to it – and a separate shelf for the Urban Fantasy section. Indeed, over Christmas I noticed one of my larger local bookstores had erected a new section for Teen Paranormal, as a separate entity of its own.

With eReaders, gone are the days those erotic titles and ruder books are kept well hidden in a secret stash in your bedroom. While those of us who are nosy (I still prefer the term curious) might glance over your shoulder and skim the page on your screen to try and decipher what you’re engrossed in on the train – anyone who is curious, or well read, enough to catch on to what kind of book you’re enjoying likely isn’t going to be one to judge.

Even my own tastes have spread over the gamut. I started with a hint of kink (Payback) then delved head first into some werewolves (The Rutledge Werewolf Series) and finally alternate universe vampires (Montague Vampires ).

Total-E-Bound have also broadened their horizons with some fantastic rewrites of the Classics (Cladenstine Classics). It’s a pretty safe bet that regardless of what kind of book you’re in the mood for, it’s out there somewhere and just a Google search away. I’m definitely feeling lucky lately.
